note to my future self:
Next time it's going to be this cold for this long, take the beer out of the back seat of the car 'cause it's going to freeze, explode and make the car smell. Though there are worse things for a car to smell like than beer, at least until it gets warmer out. Then there will be a problem.

Yikes! This sounds like something I'd be liable to do. (Sometimes I also put things in the freezer to chill them and then forget about them. Happened once with a bottle of wine. There was a LOT of glass from that one.) You're right - come summer and warmer weather, that won't be too fun. Can it be cleaned now before it has a chance to set in?
Bummer about the beer!
Summer can also bring hazards, though...your story reminded me of a long (non-air-conditioned) childhood road trip during a roasting-hot summer day...all of a sudden we heard the --SMASH!-- of glass breaking from somewhere behind us...didn't take too long to learn that mom's 40-ouncer of Southern Comfort had spent a little too much time in the uncovered cargo area of the station wagon!
Good thing we didn't get pulled over...wheeeeew!
